I have been told a writer should, at all costs, avoid the use of old, worn out cliches. So, "God forbid" I should ever fall into that trap.
Therefore, "out of the blue", I find it necessary to "nip" this cliche thing "right in the bud." And this week's column gives me just the opportunity to "put myself to the test." But I must "handle this with kid gloves." For to fail just might mean a "fate worse than death."
But first, let's "lay our cards right out on the table." The "powers that be" can be a "green-eyed monster." I feel I am "between the devil and the deep blue sea." Nevertheless, I shall make an attempt to "move heaven and earth." But such a task may "yield to no man." Yet, I shall "keep a stiff upper lip", and try not to "kill the goose that laid the golden egg." Perhaps then I shall "escape by the skin of my teeth."
So I continue on the basis of "do or die." At the "psychological moment", I am "a man after my own heart." Thus I believe this is "worth a try."
However, "on the other hand", after going back and reading what I have written thus far, I am afraid I have "fell in the great majority" of writers not "living in the lap of such luxury." I am afraid that I may have "met my untimely end." So, to the one who previously warned me about the use of those tired old worn out cliches, I must now say, "thanks for nothing", while offering my "abject apology" for not "hitting the nail on the head."
